What’s Left After They’re Gone

No matter how good the people you know are, one way or another, you are all but stages at each other’s lives. I know that sometimes one would go against every logic and reason to be close to someone, to fulfill an idea, or to cling to a happy memory that is taking its final breaths because this person means the world to them; they found themselves in them, their sanctuary and shelter, their safety and reassurance. While being at the state, one would put aside his upright behavior and give up on inalienable things just preserve those feelings, or at least, let them breathe a while longer. Those things you would let go may be the straw that would break the camel’s back. Just like accepting being a part of someone’s life, while this someone is everything to you. You would accept crumbs while you deserve the whole loaf of bread. For a snap, you would think those crumbs would make you feel full, while they make you starve even more. Here, you have two choices only: the first one is to wake up and reject the crumbs or demand the whole loaf of bread, or second, is to carry on drowning in the crumbs until one day they will not even be there anymore. Here, you will lose not only the crumbs, but you will also lose your appetite for good. And what is a person who lost his self-respect? He is nothing but a broken and vulnerable entity that will forever be insecure.
